Hi Lon, yes it is indeed the Strayhorn tune and other standards played by young musicians and recorded warts n' all as they say, so one take on simple electronics and sounds the better for it imo, less being more an all that Jazz.

Right now it's a few "new" re-releases on vinyl (like most everything I listen to these days) Yusef Lateef/Eastern Sounds. Freddy Hubbard/Open Sesame and Wes Montgomery/ The incredible Jazz Guitar of.

Mostly checking them for sound. But not exactly a choir with these records Wink

Anyway, I am into this right now. I've been into blues the last few years and lately dancing with the kind of blues that almost tips over into jazz. This one does that. I don't like all of it but a few tracks are really good.

I've been hearing about this band since the 90s but never really took the time to listen so I purchased this essential listening CD. They remind me of a poor man's Nine Inch Nails. They lean a little bit towards the progressive side with an emphasis on synth. It was a good listen on the long drive this morning but I don't think I will get any more selections from them. I will say they did a good job on the sound. The percussion sounds great.
