This is a very interesting cd. A modern recreation of 'twenties jazz "if Bix Beiderbecke had played Gershwin tunes." The arrangements really do sound like those that might have been cooked up for Bix and his buddies for recording sessions, and they even capture the little bit of sloppiness that always seems to sneak into the playing of those outfits (sloppiness fueled by bad booze or too much good booze I bet.) The recording is high fidelity but mimicking the sound of the old recordings well. Dad and I have a lot of fun listening to it.

I'm reading Cats Cradle by Vonnegut, which features a "seed of ice" called Ice 9, which happens to be a Joe Satriani tune (name came from the very same book), which made me want to listen to some Satriani when I got home from work tonight.

It happens to be the same album I listened to with Steve at his house some 16+ years ago that helped start me down this path.

In the Cave for a little while. On my way home from work, I stopped at HPB&R. I scored 10 LPs, two being double LP Jazz reissues...Bill Evans and Duke and Ella, some rock including Dylan's "Blood On The Tracks" and four Sinatra LPs 3 Capitol and one Reprise. This one first. I already own it but who knows where it is, so I bought another.

Plus I'm repositioning the ERRs a bit now that the Mundorf Supreme caps and Mundorf metal oxide resistors have broken in quite a bit, and this is a good set of music for "analysis" of tuning results.

This 1987 US Stereo reissue of the Beatles "Rubber Soul". I had planned on buying a Pop Market daily Deal of four Mono Vinyl reissues after reading some reviews on the Hoffman Forums. I just tried and it was sold out already. Oh well. It had "Rubber Soul', "Revolver", "Sargent Pepper" and "Help"...Help is the only one I really didn't want. I'll eventually get them. In the meantime I'll enjoy the CD and LP copies I've got. Mark.

PS...has anyone here bought the new Beatles Mono reissues?

Looking at the cover, two corners have water damage but opening it, I find the vinyl to be perfect and flat. The music is from concerts in Japan the summer of 1979...the album was released in the US in 1980. Wonderful! Mark.

I've only listened to one of the four LPs though. In the past I'd listened to just about all that was available on you tube...most of his work is great...hope he lives longer than Hendrix. Mark.

A friend let me borrow "Blak and Blu" a while back and I enjoyed that too, but I think I prefer the Live album.

Dave, I agree, I like his live tracks more than studio...it is the same with Hendrix...I prefer live recordings. Mark.

PS...does anyone know when Decfest will be streaming? I'd like to check in today. I'd like to hear more about Bob's new speakers. I'm not interested in the OTL Amp. My Zen Signature Mono Blocks and Torii MK IV are more than enough.
