I was looking for "Workingman's Dead" and found this....I had forgotten I bought it. It has both albums from the 1961 Vanguard sessions. I also listened to the Grateful Dead LP and a bunch of Blue Note reissues. Mark.

The H&O album starts out rather Meh, but gets good towards the end. I love the album cover as well. Listening to a 24/88.2 SACD rip of this - it just doesn't sound as warm as the LP off that old turntable.

I loved the Jazz performances and the drumming especially (since the story is about an up and coming Jazz drummer and his sadistic over the edge teacher) the soundtrack alone makes this film worth seeing, however the acting and story is superb as well.
