Sorry, I am not at all interested in a turntable. Not in the least.

I have one. I also have a phono preamp. Don't use them except every now and then, haven't set them up for over a year.

Digital (as long as it's not "ultra-detailed, ultra-focused") is fine for me.

I'm interested in why you think I need a turntable. About 65 percent of what I listen to I can't easily or affordbly FIND on lp. I'm into listening to all that I can in good sound, not finding the very best sound of a few hundred recordings and listening to that. The system I have now, set up for digital, accomplishes that. The Sony SCD-XA5400ES really delivers great sound. I have thousands and thousands of cds. Not going to run out and buy thousands of thousands of lps and set up the system to best present them.

He is the definition of cool. Lon, I also have a turntable and one of the original Decware phono preamps. It sounds good, but it is too much trouble to maintain and enjoy. At least for me.

Right now I'm having one of those wow experiences listening to Miles Davis, the Prestige Profiles collection.

I dug my old Sony ES player from storage, where it's been since a mechanical failure some years ago. Well, I fixed it using some scotch tape, poly pillow stuffing, and a sandwich bag, and voila, the ES rides again!

I'll be damned if it doesn't sound better than the crappy universal player I've been listening to. Smooth as butta, baby, almost analog sounding.

Variable outs of the ES feeding a couple bridged Zens, driving a pair of Def Tech BP7006, and presto, there's Miles! Just unbelievably good.

I absolutely LOVE my ES SACD player, the SCD-XA5400ES. It's bested all the digital front ends I've owned, including Decware ones (sorry!) Sony can make an awesome machine at times, and they've made some winners.

Right now I'm listening to a cd from two friends of mine, WD-41 (Willie Oteri and Dave Laczko), their second release, available at cdbaby.com Good spacey stuff!

Just such wonderful music, and the transfers and mastering here are the best I've heard on digital.
