Yes, I love Hawkins too. Been playing a number of discs out in the Concord "RVG" series and love the sound; the ones with Hawkins on really sound great. On other boards I haunt the RVG editions get short shrift, but I think the Decware systems make them come alive in a way they don't for others. That's just my guess.

Pomplamoose is a duo. They are making a living selling their music on YouTube and Amazon without going with a music label. They want to be independent.

They are not everyones cup of tea. I think they produce very interesting arrangements.

Best of all, they have a quirky sense of humor and youthful energy.

I admire anyone who can set up a recording studio in a bedroom using mattresses and blankets for sound control. They don't take themselves too seriously.

I think the sound is excellent, I haven't wanted to (supposed to be saving money) but I've been buying some. This one is great: Sounds so much better than the older US cd.

My all-time favorite of this piece is the Telarc recording of Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. But this recording of the CSO is something special. Dynamics and kettle drums don't quite have the body of the Telarc, but the tempo differences are very compelling. HD Tracks has it here:

Lon, if you mean the NY Reunion, I admit I don't find it quite as compelling as some other recordings. I started to describe it as laid back, but "recessed" may be more accurate. Still, I enjoy it, and perhaps if you find it a new home, maybe someone else will, too.

In general I don't like the Telarc jazz sound. Sort of dull and dead. I don't think the producers get the best performances out of the artists either. Ah well. I quit buying them after a while, though I did buy a few of the SACDs really cheap.

They're very different from a lot that I listen to, but that's a draw for me. Well crafted, dark mysterious stuff, hard-hitting too. I think Steve Wilson is a real talent. .. and I prefer these to the Porcupine Tree work, though I do like that a lot.

Listening/watching the dvd that comes with the European edition of Sade's new "Ultimate Collection." There are a few videos from her latest that I've never seen before. Man, this woman is as quietly burning sexy and beautiful in her fifties as she was in ehr twenties. (Or at least for me, I'm only three and a half years older than she). One of the wonders of God's creations.

Sounds so damned good. TV sound is excellent in this system, the DVR feeding the ZDAC-1 into the CSP into the ZBox into the Torii Mk III into the IT Radials. Wow! It really adds to the enjoyment of even mediocre TV.
