Dad is digging Karrin Allyson, which is good, gives me another jazz alternative to listen to at his place.

Last one before I get to go home for a few hours and work some shows off my DVR and then off to Lucy's little house in the woods for an evening (YAY!)

Moravian music. . . on my mother's side I'm quite Moravian in ancestry.

If it`s one thing I haven`t noticed it`s the thickness if record jackets Mark. Records put inside a thin card inner sleeve without a paper sleeve is a bugbear...but even shoving them in doesn`t seem to cause damage. I have a tube of paper glue on hand for split seams.
The Miles 2fer Cookin and Relaxin came today. ( thick jacket  :) )
He has another 2fer in a red cover with the other two, Workin and Steamin

First track My Funny Vallentine bodes well. Nice tempo and clean record.

Dinner Music…not the best sounding recording, but I love me some Mingus, good or bad SQ...

Post Dinner…been feeling the clean, and sweet sounding Strat of Mr. Knopfler…my favorite album lately is Dire Straits/Dire Straits, but this will serve to mix things up a bit…it's not as warm/fat as DS, but not near as clean and polished as BIA...

Late Night…getting lost in the reverb and effects of Panda Bear's latest effort…less modern psychedelic pet sounds vs. Person Pitch but still an interesting listen…PP is still my favorite.

Next a little Evans.  Did a bit of tube rolling in my ZP3...out with the Sylvania Triple Mica Black plate 5751's and in with a pair of RCA triple mica black plate 5751s, the 12AU7 position still has a RCA Black Plate 5814.  So an all RCA line up.

That new expanded Staples looks good. Pops! I love his guitar playing and sound.

Right now, Daniel McCarthy string quartets. These are really interesting, modern but within the tradition. Titles are "Vision in Funk," "Vision of the Annointed" and "Stomp!" Nice sounding SACD.

JD I got the brown one ( floyd animals ) about 30 US.
Also ordered a naughty boot double ( incident at Hakone ) with a side of Echoes and a side of Saucerful of Secrets. Says 9/10 sound quality. about 50 US. Both new.

Syd nice score.  Replaced my front 12ax7 last nite because i just wasn't happy with my sound.  I knew it was a tube issue in my ZP3 because my other sources sound freakin great.  Replaced an early 60's telefunken with a 62 mazda chrome plate and ended up listening to 7-8 albums including
John Hammond, Sigur Ros (3 different ones), Lone Bellow, Iron and Wine and Rhiannon Giddens.

JD
ps. also received a pair of gz34 rectifiers but unfortunately they were 4 pin, not 5 so they won't work in my torii.  Kinda bummed but should have realized it because it was clear in the pictures shown in the auction.

The 4 pin GZ34`s dont have to be a disaster, I had a look and there are adapters.

Syd,

Yeah they sound awesome although when I bought them a couple years ago they were 90 a piece now on upscale they've doubled.  Keep an eye on ebay for them they are special.  I think I will try to pick up adapters to see how those gz34's sound. I've never used adapters but they sound simple enough.

JD

OK Syd,  I just put in the 60's Russian power tubes in the Torii MK IV and the Mundorf Supreme 10 ohm resistors into the HR-1s.  I'm not familiar with this vinyl although I've listened to the music many times in the past.  It's too early to give impressions but after two songs...not bad.

This is a recent ebay purchase of a 1976 double LP of Music recorded in the 50's.  These verve twofers are pretty good.  I have most of Ella's songbooks on them. Mark.

Mark, glad to hear you`ve started the journey with 6P3S-E`s. One note, Archie posted that his draw 60ma. Mine draw 40ma. Must be the difference between amps. Hang in, they are different. I have no bass issues. Yes the EL34`s love a guitar but the 6P`s do as well.

Boy have I changed my mind about Mozart. I used to think it was fluffy pretty stuff. It can be but there's so much elegance and grace and well-managed power in the best interpretations and pieces.

Lon,  putting in the Mundorf Supremes wasn't as easy as the cheapo resistors Bob sent.  Since I use bananas for the speakers I sort of stuck the wires in, after appropriate bends, going up for the top post and down for the bottom post, then tightening.  The resistor itself is off to the side.  Is this how you installed yours?

Syd,  as you can see, I decided not to try the 70's tubes and go straight to the 60's.  So far they seem to be doing everything right without objectionable qualities.  If they improve from here, I'll be a happy camper.  I'm in the middle of another ebay vinyl buy and once done, I have another retail buy I've been working on for several days, to finish up.  Lots of new vinyl, if not new music, coming soon.  This morning I've been listening to some possible LPs on spotify with the Taboo MK IV, Zu Audio Soul speaker combo...it always amazes me how good it sounds.  This album on now.  Mark.

Yes, I think that's how I have mine. I just use bare wire and very skinny wire at that on my speaker cables so no problem connecting for me.

It had to come. I`ve taken the Rachaels offline and will box them ready for the big trip for jupiter beeswax caps. I still haven`t flogged my Minimax amps so the power amp is in position. Passable for now but it`s no Decware music maker. And there`s a hissy noise floor. If I could wind the clock forward.

Well Syd, if the past experience of those who have done this upgrade holds up, you'll be very pleased.  I've had the Beeswax caps in all my Decware Gear from the start...except the HR-1s, of course...so I have nothing to compare them to.

Next album...

Next, a MFSL reissue of this...

PS...I know I have only a few hours on the 6P3S-E Power tubes but the first two LPs tonight have sounded fabulous.

This Keith Jarrett Standards Trio LP next.  I seem to recall someone saying the Bass wasn't "there" at first with the Russian 6P3S-E tubes.  Well, with this recording there's no hiding any short fall in the lower end.  Gary Peacock's playing is more than "there"...very rich, round and impactful...Wow.  Jarrett's piano is forward and Jack Dejohnette's drumming and even the cymbals are nice...a combo of the new power tubes and new Resistors in the HR-1s?  Mark.

One side of this remaster by Jimmy Page.  "Over the Hills and Far Away" is pretty cool with all the guitar work.  Mark.

Now, a bit of Monk.  This is a reissue from the ORG label.  I bought it last month and forgot...I just ordered another from Elusive Disc yesterday.  Hopefully I can catch them before they mail my order.  Mark.
