Got the Japanese SHM-CD of the new Cassandra Wilson album (Billie Holiday tribute so to speak) in the mail. It comes out in the US next month.

Very intersting. The producer says "The result is a whole new experience for the listener, both those familiar with Cassandra and newcomers." That's very true. A swampy and spacey production. But I like it.

This is the early 21st Century K2 remaster from Japan.

I'm not sure how to classify the music...it's very dynamic, modern piano, a touch of world music, some electronica, and ethereal female vocals, some spoken word, all mixed. And the melodies range from happy to haunting. This is a wonderful album!

LR, I listened to the first 3 tracks from that Mockroot album. I think I'd call that "New Age", at least that's the term from the 80's.

Last night I attended a performance of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jaap van Zweden. The first half was Rachmaninoff's 1st Piano Concerto and the second half was Berloiz's Symphonie Fantastique. The Berloiz was especially wonderful. This morning I'm listening to this version on spotify with the Zu Souls and Taboo MK III. Mark.

Hey Lon, I mistakenly ordered a second copy of Monk's Criss Cross on the ORG Label, forgetting that I just bought it last month. I thought I'd ask if you would like to buy it for $30 shipped. Of course you could get it shipped free from elusive disc if you added a few more LPs as I always do. I'm going to have to go through the mailing hassle whether I sell it here or back to Elusive disc. It is a very nice reissue. If you don't want it maybe someone else here might. I'll wait a few days before getting a Return Authorization from Elusive Disc. Mark.

This is a Japanese CD reissue. It's fantastic. It combines Mances' Bluesy piano trio with 10 West Coast Brass Players for a tasty result. Mark.

PS...my only complaint is that this CD is only 28 minutes long. His other Big Band album on Capitol, "Get Ready, Set, Jump!!!", that I have on Vinyl, is only 29 minutes long...why not put them on one CD? Oh well, I just doubled the length of this wonderful album by hitting the replay button...aaahhhh...

OK. I'm not sure I got a good deal but I just won this auction for $506.67 plus $50 shipping. This is an Omega Deep Hemp Sub. It is not the current model but a previous one. It has an 8" driver. Now that I bought it, I'm going to do a search to find out more...sorta backwards...I know. Does anyone here have personal experience with this Subwoofer? Mark.
