I`ve moved my speakers back to conventional positioning, next to amps, 3ft from front wall, toed in, rear ports firing into bass traps.
The bass is reinforced now, nice pressure and in scale.
Another great recording from RVG studios. They must have been queueing round the block to record. Seems like most jazz albums I play have his name mentioned somewhere.

Joe Meek was on a smaller scale, eccentric but knew how to get the sound....... Quite a character. The films good.

Jazz seems to represent about 50% of what's spinning, with Rock and Classical sharing the rest equally

Am I the only Dub and Reggae fanatic here???

Anyway, here is what's spinning here: Israel Vibration's "The Same Song Dub". Utterly relaxed and pleasant.

Guillaume, I was into reggae, bluebeat and ska way back. Great dance music. That and Tamala. That was the life. Sometimes I hanker for some Prince Buster et all.

Syd, you should read about old Rudy...he's about 90 now.  He recorded all blue note sessions between 1953 and 1967...first in his parent's house in the 50's then in his New Jersey Recording Studio starting in 1959.  He's been involved with thousands of albums...put his name into discogs and see what you get.  Below are some wikis that will get you started.

Next CD...a bit of live Monk...

I used to be an old school reggae lover (mainly Bob and his songs) but . . . well I quit smoking all kinds of things and I just don't get into reggae any longer. I've tried now and then.

Right now, this new reissue

So Rudy`s still going.
Heres another old timer still going. Great live.

Wally Heider recording engineer
I think the 6P3S-E`s have settled now and are producing
a more audiophile sound than my EL34`s which is a chore as they cost 6X more than the  Russians. Bargain. And I still have a quad of the Photon `60`s 6P3S-E`s to arrive. Panic buy ? lol .
Also waiting for a quad of `60`s 6n1p-e`s x3 mica gold grid for the Rachaels. These are another great bargain. In the CSP2+ they are excellent.

Syd,  I've lost track of hours on the Russian tubes...maybe 40.

Bill Evans didn't record with Rudy Van Gelder very often...three albums that I can recall.  I'm not sure why but some didn't like recording with Rudy.  For example, Charles Mingus refused to work with him.  Sometimes I find his recording of the Piano lacking especially when there are also horns.

Next CD...

If your tubes  are going the same as mine Mark, bearing in mind you`ve got the Photons and I have the Relectors you should start noticing some comfortably reassuring signs soon. I know you probably think as I did that they`re good allready, but mine came and went a little, which led me to allways be listening more intently. Now with mine (about 80-90hrs) I can kick back enjoy and let the sound blossom and not wonder if the tubes are picky what I play.

Ruudy V G and piano. A quick think of Miles quintet. The piano is kind of put up there. Sounds v good though.

A couple hours in the Cave.  First, the second side of Joni Mitchell's "Blue"...this one is so good.  It wasn't one of the several Joni albums I owned in the 70's.  Next...Desmond and Hall...sounds like quite a match.  We'll see.

Syd,  after about 10 hours, these 60's Photons were pretty dialed in.  I'm sure they are getting better but I'm into the "Enjoying the Music" phase, having abandoned the "analysis of New Tubes" phase quickly. Mark.

PS...This is a 1981 re-issue of the 1960 Warner Bros LP "First Place Again"...pic below.  It's wonderfully Mellow as you would expect. Any of their collaborations are recommended...most on RCA.

In the Cave for about 3 1/2 hours...until the Movie "Guys and Dolls" starts on TCM.  First I'll finish Clifford Jordan's "Royal Ballads" then I'll spin this Music Matters 45 RPM Blue Note Reissue.  Mark.

OK,  Lee Morgan will have to wait.  While listening to the Clifford Jordan LP, I got an overwhelming desire to hear the below LP...Beautiful...

Now I'm listening to some of this 4 LP box set...side 5, a 23 minute version of "Whipping Post", is just about done...

Next up, an album that was played frequently in the late 70's and early 80's when I consumed more fusion than I do now.

I'm going to listen to my Doors Box to decide if I want the Rhino Vinyl versions of the 6 studio albums with Morrison.  This is the one mastered by Bernie Grundman and released in 1999.  He also was the one to do the remastering job on the Rhino Vinyl...not sure if it's the same digital remasters for the vinyl released in 2009.  I'll do some research.

Lon,  I have listened to that Herbie Hancock album several times the past couple months...love it.  Unfortunately it wasn't one I bought on 45 RPM vinyl from Music Matters.  It is available, though no longer on sale.  I'm hoping they do a 33 RPM reissue of that one next year.  Mark.

I'm sure it would sound great on that pressing. . . myself I just can't bring myself to spend that much on an lp. And I think I have three copies of this on cd! I'll give away one to my brother, but I'm keeping this new one.

Right now, back at Dad's and disc 3 of this set
