Listening to the deluxe version of the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers "Live Anthology" box set. I'm not that big a Petty fan but when I discovered that Best Buy was selling this set for 30 dollars (down from 125) I bought a copy for me and one for a friend. If you're a fan hustle to Best Buy before they sell out. It has five cds, two dvds, an lp (and each have separate music, no doubling up of material on different discs) and on top of that it has a Blu-Ray with 24/96 files of all the contents of all five cds. And it has a few miniposters, a book, etc. A deal for 30!

Still playing the new Modern Jazz Quartet box set from Mosaic Records, released this week.

It's very interesting to me as I've had some of these albums (there are 14 on 7 cds here) for a number of years, and the mastering makes them sound new. Atlantic jazz lps aren't really well recorded with a thick and muddy sort of sound. Ron McMaster who engineers this set usually puts out bright and sometimes thin sound, the combination of the source tapes and his style make for clear an dynamic sound, improving on the original lp and cd releases (in my opinion).

I have three of her albums, two produced by Prince. Right now, more of the Modern Jazz Quartet Mosaic set. An upset tummy woke me up a few hours ago and I just decided to stay up as my gal is coming over in an hour and a half or so. The music is great.
