Well, if you find it, listen to some of those records, they're quite interesting. Maynard also had one of my favorite drummers in his band during this period, Frankie Dunlop.

First CD....nice coffee sipping music...Octet recorded in 1956...

Lon,  I hadn't noticed Frankie Dunlop was on the compilation of Maynard's Roulette years but he indeed toured and recorded with MF for two years.  I know him best for his stint with Thelonious Monk, 1960 to 1964.  He's on Criss Cross and Monk's Dream as well as several live albums on Riverside, Colombia and other labels. He played with many, including Mingus and Sonny Rollins; and recorded more than 100 albums according to wiki.

Mark, yes, Dunlop is my favorite drummer with Monk (and there are lots of live --official and bootleg-- recordings with Monk that I treasure) and with others. He had a way of dancing on the drums melodically that was all his own. As a former drummer I am always awed by his playing.

Right now

This is a experimental norwegian band I heard this weekend at a festival. Dont know what genre to label them with, but i will mean the band has a cool signature, and I went straight ahead and bought the LP. Users of Tidal can find it there

Listening to CDs with system two.  CD #1 of 6...

Yesterday, I bought a Mullard I63, Blackburn, 1969 12AX7A for my ZP3.  In position #1 it should give me a good idea of what the Mullard sound brings. I'll likely buy another.

The most recent Japanese cd reissue. This is challenging music, I've enjoyed letting it wash over me for decades. Sound is awesome on this one today. Earlier today I heard the first version, now I'm listening to the second.

Well, I'm in the Cave and already on my second album...

I have popped into the ZP3 slot #1 a Mullard ECC83/12AX7A, I63, late 60's, white labeled IEC.  It is different.  First it obviously has much higher gain than the Sylvania Triple Mica 5751 gray plate I took out...which has 70% of the gain of a 12AX7.  Second the Mullard seems to have more bass, so much more that I got up and dialed my Omega Deep Hemp Sub down a bit.  It's early with it and it may need some burn in but I can't say I like it better than the Sylvania 5751, it is starting to grow on me though.  I'll have to try some female vocals next.  Mark

This is the first Ella vinyl I found, a two LP 1986 reissue...

PS...I put this on and sat back, then a chipmunk began to sing...I'd forgotten to change the TT back to 33 RPM.  Anyway once that was fixed...oh my, Ella sounds wonderful with a Mullard.  To be fair, I haven't listened to this LP with the Sylvania...In fact, I'm not sure I've listened to this set since I bought it.
