Core, that is the only Cat LP that I want, that I haven't been able to find a good original copy of...yet.  I do have an original purchased when it was first released but I haven't found it yet.  The originals all sound good so those who wish not to buy "Audiophile" reissues should be able to find fairly inexpensive copies still.  Love Cat Stevens.  Mark.

OK, I have a couple hours in the Cave. This is a newly acquired Rhino Vinyl reissue that sounds very nice but so do the originals...this copy has a slight warp that doesn't affect playback.

Listening to this one more time...except maybe "Blue in Green".  On a second play, the only track where the bass gets a little over powering is "So What", otherwise this version has near perfect remastering in my opinion...stellar job.

Next is one of three recently released Music Matters 33 RPM Blue Note reissues that arrived last week...

PS...this will be the last LP.  Then it's off to go see a production with 30+ piece orchestra of the Musical "Grand Hotel".

PSS...this LP is amazing...better than the 45 RPM version I have from Music Matters.  Kevin Gray at his newly wired Coherent Studios has the Blue Notes nailed...

Fascinating about the recording of the bass on KOB Mark. The Columbia `6eye`new is not expensive at all. It`s sold under the Sony Legacy banner.
It must be easy to turn the bass up on a reissue. I actually would prefer it a touch louder the the Columbia but just thought that thats how the bassist wanted it....if, that is he was hearing the whole piece as he played along. On my recording he is quite a way back on the soundstage.
Once or twice I`ve found that just by saying you wanted to return an lp on e-bay is enough for the seller to issue a refund.

One last from Cat before I move on....

PS: Dang! I had forgotten how many of his popular "radio" songs were on this one. Sing along time! LOL.

Core, that one and "Tea For The Tillerman" are the one's with the most "Hits".

I just got off the phone with Music Direct.  After telling them about the defective KOB LP, they said hold onto it and they'd send me a new one.  I had read in the Steve Hoffman forum where someone had to send the defective record back at their expense.  I was ready to make my case not to send it or send it at their expense....all that brain power wasted...hehe.

This is the kind of service that will get more of my Business.  They also send their LPs via Fed Ex for free for an order of $99 or more.  Most others send media mail.  Plus for the MFSL reissues, Music Direct owns the company so getting a credit from mfsl wouldn't/shouldn't be an issue.  Very Happy Camper.

Will get to the Cave for 3 hours of listening starting at 6 pm CST.  Mark.

First I listened to side two of Shorter's "Speak No Evil" before moving on to the next Music Matters 33 RPM Blue Note reissue...

This is a Speakers Corner 33 RPM reissue that's taken a while to get, it's been out of stock at most stores and when I ordered it from elusive disc they labeled it as in stock but it was later called back ordered.  Well, it came with several other items today. Fabulous...

My replacement Disc #1 of the MFSL 45 RPM KOB set arrived today.  It will be the first played tonight....well, maybe the second LP so everything has a chance to warm up.  Will get to the Cave at 6pm CST.  Stay tuned. Mark.

Another of the really good sounding SHM-CDs in the 75th anniversary series.

And I've added two more sets of VooDoo Cable Iso Pods and that has made a nice little boost of "presence" to the sound.

Listening to this from the "Glenn Gould Remastered" box set I received on Wednesday and I'm floored. Everything is improved from the "Original Jackets Collection" I've enjoyed half a decade, from the sound to the packaging to the book. The sound is the real deal breaker, it's just wonderful. Now I have a new box set and an old box set. I'm sure I can solve that problem.

Starting my session in the Cave early...I've heard my fill about the despicable terrorists in France.

Lon, I see you've been enjoying "Fragile".  I have an Analogue Productions 200 gm reissue on back order...mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray. I also recently bought the MFSL gold CD.  But tonight I'll be listening to the "Yes" album, just got a Rhino Vinyl reissue of it this week.

I just put a pair of Tung Sol 5751's in the ZP3 replacing a pair of Sylvania 5751s...too soon for a verdict but playing my first LP...a Rhino Vinyl reissue of Joni Mitchell's "Court And Spark"...they seem to be mighty sweet. Mark.

Yes, I like Yes, and I really enjoy the remixes that Steven Wilson has done of the Yes, KC and Jethro Tull classic albums. This Fragile is one of the best ones he's done.

Wow, you sure roll a lot of tubes in the ZP3! I kept one complement in for about two years and now I'm listening to a cryo'd TAD complement, I like them.

Lon, I've looked and it seems the Steve Wilson Mix of Fragile can only be had on the Blueray/CD set...not vinyl.  I might buy the cd if they ever sell it separately.

You are not going to believe this.  The Miles Davis "Kind Of Blue" 45 RPM disc one replacement arrived two days after I called Music Direct via Fed Ex.  I'm just now getting to listening to it.  It came in a plain white jacket...put it on my TT and dropped the needle, appears to be perfect except... it is disc one of Dire Strait's "Brother in Arms" 45 RPM set...hehe.  It does sound really good though.  Mark.

Man, you'd think they could get that straight! I really like the KOB SACD from Mobile Fidelity, it matches the Ultra HD 32Bit CD from Sony in many ways. I just don't buy audiophile vinyl; vintage vinyl sounds excellent to me and is usually much cheaper, and I'm mainly using vinyl for recordings I don't have digitally, or for "pre-tape" material that often sounds better on vinyl than early or middle period cds.

I know that at least one (Aqualung) Wilson remix has come out on vinyl, but don't know about the Yes albums (different labels). I actually buy these sets as much for the Blu-rays or DVDs as the cds, as the hi-res material on these sounds excellent via my Denon universal player.

I have to tell you, that Dire Straits LP was phenomenal.  When I call to have them send LP #1 of the KOB set, I'll see if I can talk them into sending me lp #2 of "Brother in Arms".  I really feel bad for them...I think I'll order a few albums so they can send the extras with them.

Lon, it's good you haven't been "infected" with the Vinyl reissue bug as I have.  But the vinyl gives so much more pleasure than CDs...it's worth the expense and hassle for me.  And Yes,  I'm a tube rolling maniac in the ZP3...now the Torii is pretty much set it and forget it.

This now...

This is a Rhino Vinyl reissue...sounds great...

PS...after listening to a few LPs I can declare the Tung Sol 5751 a resounding winner...very nice.  I have another pair of RCA black plate triple mica 5751s that I need to put into the ZP3 soon to make sure they work, otherwise I'd keep these in for an extended stay.

This is what joe of "Joe's tube Lore" said about them...

Tung Sol 5751 - this guy is a bit of a sleeper and odd man out here, but its worth grabbing if you stumble on it cheap. This tube is a bit different from the others on the list in terms of physical design. All of the other tubes here are of the 3 mica spacer design with short wide plates. This tube, on the other hand, has an internal construction similar to a traditional 12AX7 -tall ribbed grey plates with no 3rd mica spacer. Perhaps as a result of this it sounds a bit like a cross between the two types - while it is not quite as focused as the other top of the heap 5751s, it does have a very good sense of life, body and ambiance.

Well, if I didn't have the DirectStream I probably would be tempted to buy a lot more new vinyl, but the DirectStream DOES give me the enjoyment that vinyl does, in its different way (apples and oranges). And I rarely get the wrong cd or rarely scratch and ruin cds, something that I can't say with vinyl. I've worked for a few decades at getting the digital sound I now enjoy and I have so many cds. . . I'm immune to that audiophile vinyl bug. It's easy to get a great sound from vinyl in comparison. I guess I always become more attached to what I work hardest at.

Right now, listening to something that came in the mail, the Blu-Spec 2 version of the Bill Evans cd I've listened to the past few days. Wow. The difference is not exactly subtle, the Blu-Spec sounds more vivid and textured.

Lon, no doubt you've got the "Vinyl" sound with the PS Audio Combo.  When I got back into Hi Fi a couple years ago I already had thousands of CDs and LPs...many/most I have yet to listen to.  So I'm actually wed to both formats.  I originally intended to only buy reissues on Vinyl that weren't easily obtained as originals.  I started my love affair with 50's and 60's jazz after I'd stopped buying vinyl in the late 80's early 90's so I had it all on CD.  Anyway, as you can tell any plan to limit my Vinyl reissues went out the window rather quickly.

It's all about the Music...we all get there differently.  I'm pretty much "there" now and think rolling tubes in the ZP3 and input tubes in the CSP3 and my Zen Signature Monoblocks will satiate my desire to tinker.  I do want one more pair of the Voodoo Evolution interconnects to use when I play the Jolida 100 or Denon 100 A in the Cave.  Over the last several weeks I bought about a half dozen Zu Audio Mission  Power Cords so I've got upgraded power cords every where except on the omega Sub...so I'll buy one more when it pops up.

This Yes album sounds amazing...

This is a 1979 double LP of music spanning Miles' Music from 1955 to 1970.  I think all of it was unreleased at the time....
