I just bought three new pairs of Grover Huffman's latest ZX interconnects, so I m selling some of the back up tubes for my Decware ZP3 Phono Preamp, to partially offset the purchase.
Tested on a Hickok 533A, where 1250/1250 is new, both of the 1959 Raytheon 12AX7a's test at 1000/1000. Both tubes were made in the same week. Auditioned in a PAS-3X for microphonics and sonic clarity, these have clear highs, smooth mids, and full bass. Price for the matched pair is $35.00.
I also have a second pair that tests at 1050/1050 for both tubes. This pair of Raytheons is dated 1960, and the price is $38.00. It was also auditioned in a preamp for microphonics and sonic clarity.
These tubes have long, shiny, ribbed black plates with halo getter, and an extra "keeper" on top of the upper mica. This keeper probably contributes to the low microphonics. Both pairs of tubes are in nice shape with most of the printing intact and straight, clean pins. I will clean the pins with Caig Deox and use a vintage tube pin straightener to be sure.
Shipping is $5.00 for Priority Mail in the lower 48 states. Returns accepted with 7 days, but they must be shipped back in a box (not an envelope) and you pay return shipping.
I previously used 1959 Pope Amperex 12AX7's from Upsale Audio in my Decware ZP3 for a few years, then after some research I tried the Raytheons and found them far superior to both 1959 Amperex and 60's Mullard CV4004's. The Raytheons are warmer AND more detailed in my system. They are superb "sleeper" tubes, most of which were made for Baldwin Organ company, and were factory prescreened for noise, etc. This is what I use in my Decware ZP3, along with a 50's Mullard 12AU7 for the buffer position.
Paypal preferred for payment, but checks are ok.
Thanks, Mike
