Can 6SN7 to 6922 Adapter be used for CSP3 (Read 4337 times)

Rizlaw Seasoned Member Offline Posts: 117 NY	Can 6SN7 to 6922 Adapter be used for CSP3 11/26/19 at 00:43:03 Does anyone have experience using the Tube Depot 6SN7 - 6922 adapter on a CSP3? Can it be done safely or would it damage the CSP3. I'd like to roll a 6SN7 in place of 6922s on the input and/or output tubes which are normally 6922/6DJ8/6N1P. Thanks for any info.

I sold my CSP3 before I got the adapters, but I used them successfully in my Torii to roll 6SN7s into the 6922 position. I did it because I have a large stock of NOS 6SN7s, and wanted to try them in the Torii. I wouldn't say they were better than the 6922/6DJ8/PCC88s I tried, but they were definitely different. YMMV.

Thanks Dave. I tried it on the single input driver tube last night. Through headphones it does have a different sound as you noted. Through my Beyer T1.2 headphones I also noticed a slight soft 60 cycle hum/hiss through both channels. I'll have to go back to the 6N1P and listen through my T1.2 to see if I hear the same hum/hiss. I normally don't use the CSP3 with headphones. I use it to drive my Taboo III and Omega 3E speakers.

After additional relatively brief testing, it seems that the CSP3 is not well suited for 6SN7s with adapters. I noticed some mighty sparks inside my two 6N1P output tubes turning the CSP3 on or off with the 6SN7 in the input tube socket. This also resulted in some pretty loud and scary electrical cracks through the headphones. Shortly, after this happened, I received an email response from Woo Audio stating they don't recommend using 6SN7s with adapters in their WA2 OTL headphone amps.
