The most interesting thing I have found in this week’s releases: Tropical F**k Storm - TFK’s Inflatable Graveyard.

This live recording from an Australian supergroup captures the energy of a live rock show well. Through all the noise and distortion the transient energy of the drums, both the resonance and the percussive click of sticks on skins and bronze are present, not hidden and not overpowering. My system separates the busy group of musicians and keeps each in place across the stage.

Going to check out that Ahmad Jamal next, Geno.
40 years ago I got turned on to jazz when I picked up Coltrane’s Lush Life. That album was a gateway to so much great music, and Coltrane will always be my favorite in that genre.
Out this week: Raphael Rodrinski plays John Coltrane and Langston Hughes
Some interesting takes on classics.

Mrs. CA is out of the house, and I felt like getting loud.

It doesn't happen often but when I want to turn it up to 11 this is my go to. It seems like a lot of Zeppelin fans don't know about this album: it is Zep at its absolute best and for me, my desert island rock and roll album, YMMV. It is made from live shows in LA, I would have loved to have been there but I was 11 and my parents said it was past my bedtime.

Several years ago, I started searching out quad recordings. I stumbled upon one - Santanas Greatest Hits - the sound was unbelievable, like a different recording (there are small parts that are slightly different.

Anyway, this recording of Mountain is one of the better ones I’ve heard.

Love Leslie West, and Felix Pappalardi (his vocals are so great on Theme For an Imaginary Western.

My wife had ordered this box set for me recently. I have been going through it and absolutely love the blu Ray 2020 24/48 mix from this set. A beautiful recording. Same with the other Cat Stevens Mona Bone Jakon box set.

The Zen amp is going strong and still playing most evenings for a few hours. Love that lil' amplifier! Smiley

Digging up some old favorites Ten Years After, Spirit, Steely dan, Los Lobos, Chick Corea, Dead Can Dance, Madonna. Now playing Genesis, "We Can't Dance".

After a front end refresh, the system is the best ever. Immersive, detailed, and revealing new sounds never heard in very familiar material. A new laser in the transport, new caps in the DAC, and the C-9 made a huge step towards the grail.

Los Lobos have made like a bazillion albums over the last 40 years, but if I were to pick the one to listen to after Kiko it would be How Will The Wolf Survive?

On CD.

It was their breakout album and isn't as polished as Kiko, but all the energy and emotion, and musicianship, is on full display. Good Morning Aztlan and By The Light of The Moon are standouts for me as well.
