So, I received a package from Vera-fi Audio earlier today, expecting a pair of graphene sluggos. Through a slight error, I received the Main Stream I’d ordered, but the Sluggos were not there. No worries, it was all sorted and being handled with Marks exceptional customer service. My expectation was that the Main Stream would be a nice addition, as was the Snubway, but I was really anticipating what the graphene sluggos would bring. Nonetheless, I plugged in the Main Stream and went about my day. This evening I powered up the gear and sat down for a late evening listen. I was not prepared for what I heard.
I’ll preface that other than plug in’s I do not have any power conditioning, regeneration, etc. I have a Snubway in my Shunyata power distribution strip and a Venom Defender between my analog gear and digital on the strip. Now I have the Main Stream in the duplex that my power strip is plugged into. What I experienced this evening was wholly unexpected. I’m not great at audiophile descriptors that don’t sound cliché. Only thing that comes to mind would be some sort of sorcery (yeah, cliché). Yes, the Snubway was a nice addition, but I really feel now that the Main Stream is the companion piece that really makes this all shine, together. You know when you have that special late night session, when it seems that the power is exceptionally clean and there is some special magic happening? This is like that, except that now all of your neighbors power has been shut off and the power to your gear is exceptionally pure and everything is running at optimal capacity. I know that’s not the case, as we are in the middle of a heat wave, so I’m sure there are lots of fans and AC units going with my neighbors. Yet tonight is one of those nights when everything is sounding like magic… To the next level up. I hope this is repeatable. For now, I need to shut down and call it a night. I anticipate a lot of really late nights!
