I may have misspoken, confusing one company for another... there are so many. No need to get hung up on details... one thing we all can notice is that boutique and specialty manufacturing in general has been dwindling for quite a while. However, I have had some really cool conversations lately about new and classic companies making comebacks and taking great strides to avoid being eaten up by the time monster in general, but also specifically in our industry and its related support industries.
I am just anxious and waiting for things to come together. When they do, it will be a glorious day. I love building all of our products... but, the accelerated stuff is fun! More complicated units are tedious, and take lots of time, concentration, and mental energy. When you add in the everyday lives we all lead, it can get daunting day in and day out... ( I still don't know how our lead tech does it... this guys schedule is so full I don't know how he has time to sleep). The team I work with marches on everyday, be it on an easy path, or as if marching through mud, same/same.
I will swim through boxes of parts for these units like Scrooge McDuck swimming through his vault of gold coins. To be honest, I see snags in the line like this as added value to all of the pieces we build. There are hours and hours and hours of work that back up these speed bumps. from the office to the parts department all the way through Steves office... not a day goes by that these holdups are static situations, just hanging out ...waiting... Every second and minute that someone tracks packages or touches base with distributors, or checks sample parts to confirm larger orders. It all counts toward the eventual nickels and dimes that have to be accounted for. Technically, this makes things more expensive for us to produce while at the same time making added value on the customer side of things, even if some of you just know that there is added attention paid to your units, it makes me happier... (IMO) worth is a monetary measure, value is not. Sorry, I think I am rambling...
It thrills me that so many people are directly involved with their order status and general status of the shop/company in general. Being a small business, very small actually, it is easy to get tunnel vision and you guys being here communicating and adding perspective really helps with staying focused on the goals we have. Thanks to all of you.
Wish I had a magic wand to make the time pass... I guess we kind of do... has everyone been keeping up on the Decca cartriddge thrad?
