Furutech FPX rhodium ac receptacles
07/24/24 at 17:27:57

Was looking at my power cables closely the other day and noticed how their heavy weight was causing them to droop heavily from the wall outlet.

I wanted something to create a more solid connection, did some reading and came across the Furutech FPX products in copper, gold and rhodium which are noted for their tight, yet forgiving (no scratches) grip as well as great sonics.

I had a local supplier who had the FPX rhodium in stock so splurged and bought and inserted one into an outlet that provides ac to my pre, dac, streamer, and monoblock rythmik amps which drive four 15 inch open baffle bass drivers.

I found a little glare upon initial listen, so plugged my two basement freezers and one fridge into the ac receptacle a few days back.  My wife was out today so I took a peek listen today, about three days in , I think they should cook for 20 days (500 hours), and was really pleased with the sound.  More air, live sounding, and significantly more impactful bass slam were very noticeable.

And oh yes my bulky cords. They Now stand at proud attention.

I would like to add a second for my monoblock 300b coincident Frankenstein amps.

Thought I would share.

I switched my receptacles and PC's to Furutech rhodium NCF about a year ago, and have been very pleased with the results. The burn in was brutal.

I had a similar experience with a Furutech F1-12L R plug.  In the past I stayed away from rhodium because it was supposed to be bright.  I could only get the angled Furutech plug in rhodium and the results are anything but bright.  Best so far.  As a result I purchased a Furutech FPX R receptacle for the new sound room which has a dedicated line.

I went with gold. Maybe another time I'll try Rhodium. I'm quite happy with the gold though, given me years of good service and adds to great sound.

To be honest I planned to go gold but the local guy didn't have it.

Gold fits what I know about your listening tilt Lon, but if things stay same or improve, I  feel I will be enjoying the added dynamics of the rhodium.

I installed the rhodium Furutech receptacle earlier this year and was very pleasantly surprised that it made a noticeable positive difference. I would do it again if the need arose.

I just checked my Amazon order history and the exact outlet I installed is:

Furutech GTX-D NCF(R) Ultimate Nano-Crystal Rhodium-Plated AC Duplex Receptacle

Pdxdrew, I am 250 hours in and I fully feel your long burnin comment.

Slam and air are wonderful. I would like more smoothness.. back to the two freezers and 1 fridge onto the Furutech.
