Rolling the Rectifier

Hi there -

I have a Rachael SE341.5, which I have had for several months.  I've recently started experimenting with tube rolling.  I am now looking to change out the rectifier.

I am considering the Sophia Electric Aqua II 274B that is advertised with "live like sonic performance" and also the Cryotone 5U4G-WC. Any issues with the 274B?  Any recommendations as between the two?  Or any others to add to the mix?

Thanks!

I have had both that Cryotone and the Aqua II. I sold the Cryotone--I strongly prefer the Aqua II. That is a great rectifier for every Decware component I have used it within.

Hi Alan,

I have had the same experience with rectifiers as Lon. I sold my Cryotone 5U4G, preferring the original Sophia 274B and then Sophia 274B Aqual II. I have also had excellent results with Mullard GZ33. The RCA 5V4 I am using now is great for a less expensive rectifier.
