They need to be cleaned before the first play.

Enjoy the ride Scott!  I remember when my vinyl journey started a few years ago.  I went on a buying spree for a while just to have music to play…then I really started to seek out quality 1st pressings and Japanese imports, and albums mastered by Kevin Gray, a few from Bernie Grindman, and labels that push quality.  I tend to seek out 180g records at a minimum and limited edition series albums.  I enjoy putting on UHRQ albums that blow your doors with that analog sound and get the feeling that that band is in your room.  It is a long journey though…now I’m ready to upgrade my rig…but the price point i am looking at I really don’t want to spend right now…so I just chug along and enjoy the music.

Just arrived, and excited to get some of my new albums spinning. It’s a very substantial, exquisitely finished piece. If it performs as well as it looks and feels, it should be amazing. I can tell I’m going to have to step up my cartridge game pretty quick, but it’s a nice feeling knowing it’ll bring out the best in my Ortofon Concorde Music.

I have just recently gotten back into vinyl after many years absent. Just purchased a new Technics SL1300G-K and Teac PE 505 Phono Amp, I just couldn't get my hands on a used Deware and didn't want to wait several years to get a phono pre from them, even though my entire system is Declare. That said, I have only purchased new albums so far and I have run them for 5 minutes, three at a time with distilled water, 80 degrees F, with a couple TBLS of Kodak Photo-Flo 200, it seems to work very well, the records dry perfectly shiny with no apparent residue and sound great. I am very hesitant to use any chemicals, even a few drops of Dawn because it seems to me that would require a second rinse and that for me would mean the solution dries on the record then has to be removed. In your case, I think I might be incline to put a few drops of Dawn in and then rinse them in a second unit with only Photo-Flo in it. Seems like you have a good situation there. Scott how do you like the DD turntable so far? One of my New Years resolutions is to acquire a new turntable. I've been looking at the VPI offerings. Not that my JVC DD is slacking but never owned a belt system. Also plan to dive into moving coil. One of the best bangs for a buck was beefing the direct mains power to 9 gauge wire (2 12 gauge romex) to my Decware system. The analog dynamics exploded!

I've used a mixture of 99% IPA, Kodak 200, and distilled water with the Vinyl Vac with decent results. Some of the used records have a need for deep cleaning after years of collecting dust. I really don't think the Vinyl Vac gets that really deep embedded grime out of those old neglected albums. Some of those still seem to harbor grime which is evident with the persistent noise even after a couple of runs on the VV even though the albums look like new. Thus my ultrasonic cleaner purchase.
I purchase the first one last October. Never got a chance to use it before leaving on an extended vacation in SC. However I did try it out before my departure and the 30 day return window. Good thing, because it did not work! The power switch would light up but that was it. I contacted Vevor with the issue and got a run around from sending me a part to fix it to sending me a new one. The back and forth e-mails' took almost a month before finally agreeing on accepting a replacement. Interesting enough Vevor did not want me to sent the defective unit back! The third unit was acquired on market place while visiting my daughter in NC during last year's Thanksgiving while exchanging e-mails' with Vevor. I just wanted to return the faulty unit and get a refund to begin with knowing that it would be a while before using it but Vevor did everything possible not to refund or accept a return including just sending me another to basically shut me up in agreeance.

I plan on doing my cleaning a little different than Sean. I'm thinking of using the VV first on the really dirty albums, then next use one ultrasonic with a solution then the next tank with plain distilled water as a rinse. After reading Sean's post, there will be some nessesaily tweaks that will have to worked on with the "Vinyl Stack thing ma bob"

Sorry, I kind of miss led you all on my first post here. I have the analoge units not the digital that the link leads too. Also the units are on the shelf but one needs a new something or other before it will work.
