Six speaker 2 channel stereo

While Steve has shaken things up by laying his open baffles back on a angle, I now present to you all another out of the box thought.

How about six speaker two channel stereo?

Angela-Gilbert Yeung has a slightly off kilter way of thinking.

I'm thinking about dragging speakers about my listening room to try this out.  I think I have a way of powering everything to give it a try.

Donnie,

Interesting idea. I look forward to hearing how your experiment goes. I don’t think that I have a room that would work in this house, but it’s intriguing. Keep us in the loop.

Despite the usual arguments, I say that you can't really know until you try it, at least in some cases. I get the idea of creating better staging for the system's reproduction. It is difficult for me to get past the really bad listening environments that this guy uses for listening. Probably, like most of us he doesn't have much choice. It is just that I am not sure that I would even bother with a bedroom system as he had described with a king sized mattress that covers 70% of the floor. The room dimensions are horrendous sounding 11' X 11' X 9' or something. That is a non starter right there.
The garage I can have more sympathy for because well, it's a garage and maybe not a great place for music in the foreground, but more in the background.
When I see the next room, I can't say for sure but at best it looks pretty narrow with speakers right up against the side walls, but hey what can you do? Add more speakers?
I kind of am curious as the 'blend' of sound that you might achieve with more speakers if it weren't  for the space of 3 feet of one set of speakers behind the others. If there were some time compensation for this fact, it might be a step forward. All in all, I have to admit that I have tried variations of this thinking and yes, sometimes there is an improvement of sorts, so I can't judge too much unless I were to try it.
At this point in that environment I would be as willing to try cross-cancellation or something of the sort that would be able to adjust, and definitely, it could be very helpful to measure an environment to see what you are up against.
