VLB Variable Loudness Box
Please Decware build this for us to buy and enjoy.
Some amps and receivers of the '70's has a loudness button, even a variable loudness knob.
No one better than Steve Decker to reimagine this. A tube EQ contour piece with a " In/ Out" button and a "feel" pot to adjust the amount of loudness. Steve would decide if the contour curves would be adjustable like a PEQ.
The reason we audiophiles need the device is so we can listen to our amazing systems at low levels, if we choose, like in a dinner party, and have " powerful but not loud" at our fingertips.
This magic box, can it be sold for under 1K$?

Have you heard the ZROCK2 or ZROCK3? My ZROCK2s (I have one in each system) really do accomplish quite a bit of what you appear to want in this proposed box.

I should have known! Z3 is pretty close.
Does the contour do the " powerful, not loud " thing like the old Yamaha's did?

I never had an old Yamaha but I think you can dial that in.

The Z-Rock ROCKS!!
After owning one for many years, I would never consider not having one in my system. They are custom built to order and Declare still offers a return guarantee, they are that good and well worth the wait.

I hope you can find one! I am not sure that there are too many out there. Right after it was introduced Decware ran into issues getting the chassis needed to build them, an issue still not resolved. I've had one on order for ten months and have been at #24 for months. Luckily I have a ZROCK2 to listen to in each system.
