Building a new system around a Tori mk3
02/18/25 at 16:10:15

Hello everyone.  After a 20 year hiatus from the hobby I am finally able to jump back in.  I’m building a new system around a new to me Torii mk3.  I’m looking for input on speaker and interconnect cables as well as streamers.  My hope is to find high value products that will be a great starting point but are not necessarily the end game. My speakers for now will be one of the following; NHT 2.5, Klipsch Hearsey II, or Klipsch R15M.  I also have a REL Stadium That I could integrate if I choose.  Thank you in advance for any and all input.

If you indeed "hope is to find high value products that will be a great starting point but are not necessarily the end game" then the Decware interconnects and speaker cables and power cables are a good fit.

As Lon stated the Decware IC's, PC's and speaker cables are a good place to start. There are a wide range of streamer/DAC's available. They really vary in terms of complexity and price. Two popular brands at Cambridge Audio & Eversolo. These both can stream HiRez content from many of the music streaming service such as Qobuz, Tidal, etc. Both brands are also ROON certified if you choose to use that programming option.

Regarding speakers it would be helpful to learn more about your listening room - dimensions, dedicated listening room, combined AV + music, type of room - lots of furniture, hardwood vs. carpeted floors, etc. Some rooms are lively (think hardwood/tile floors + lots of untreated windows) and others not as much (especially with lots of overstuffed furniture). Also placement of speakers can make a lot of difference especially in relationship to the primary listening position.

Good luck.

Thank you for the replies.  As far as my room is concerned, it was s a loft space in my home that I also use as an office, open on one side.  Dimensions are roughly 12x17.  The system would be along one of the short walls. The floor is carpeted and there are bookshelves along most of the walls.  Listening will be near field.

If you don't have a lot of furniture in the room I would consider the possibility of an open baffle or small floor standing two-way or single driver speaker. A lot of forum members enjoy open baffles, they do enjoy a diffuser panel placed on the wall behind the speakers and pulled out from that wall at least 2' preferably 3'.

As a suggestion I would take a look at offerings from Omega Speakers and Caintuck Audio's baffle speakers. These are both relatively low cost options which sound great paired with Decware gegear.

Another endorsement of Decware speaker and interconnects as I use. Already had some good PC or would have gotten them as well. As you see in my signature I also like Heresy and Omega! My Heresy’s are I’s 1974 but I refurbished with all new drivers and crossover from Crites speakers in Arkansas. If you already have them or can get real cheap be a good option. Total refurbishment run about 900. Good luck and enjoy the process!

Heritage Klipsch sound amazing.  I agree Randall Smiley
I still have a set of HeresyII's sitting in their original boxes in the shop. I just cannot get rid of them! They were my very first Klipsch speakers.  [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Mike, these Hersey's are my brothers who passed in 2018. They were the only speakers he owed, bought new in 74'. I bought my pair in 76' and now my little brother has them. He also has a second pair in his house. I added the slant risers (from Crites) as well. nice addition.
