Lii-Song Drivers and the rabble

I built a pair of OBs using Fast-10s. Aside for the usual subwoofer augmentation, and a little rolling off treble at the high end, I like the sound. The FR measurements from the room eq I use would suggest they perform as advertised.

So...

I keep running across folks who delight in throwing shade at the Lii-Song products. "Unverified measurements," "vaporware," "bad copies of vintage designs" and the like. I don't get it.

Have I drunk Lii-Song Kool-Aid? Has anyone outside the devoted users and this retailer ever done some independent testing? Part of me doesn't really care. I like mine. But maybe I'm not hearing the downside. What I am hearing are a pair of speakers that got me to put my Audio Physic Tempos in the closet. I must be deaf, right?

Hi JB,
I'm right there with ya. I've had JBL L150's, Magnepan 1.6's which I made hardwood frames and rebuilt the crossovers. I then went to 3.7's, which were a love hate thing for me. They sounded great on certain music, but not so on others. Then I got a pair of Moab's, which I never did care for. Those didn't last long in my system. I'd never heard, or had single driver speakers and off of Steve's glow review of the Lii Origin S10, I bought a pair. I fell in love with the single driver sound and a coherency I'd never experienced before. Though the S10 driver wasn't perfect, it was seductive enough to keep my enthusiasm about this type of design. Then the P10 driver came out and I couldn't say no. A slight modification to the Origin cabinet and the P10 drivers where up and running. There was a night and day difference to the sound of the P10's vs the S10. A smoothness that was missing was now in place. The highs were more extended, deeper, punchier base and midrange that is bid, bold and wonderful. I'm not into measurements, I listen with my ears and from other speakers I've listened to, these are right up there with the best. To me, their biggest drawback, is they are extremely transparent. If there is a week link in front of them, they will expose it, which for me resulted in too much emphasis on leading edges. If I was 10-20 yrs younger I would most likely enjoy that type of presentation. But, I have spent a lot of money and time dialing in my room, power, system and these speakers fit right in. My system is very balanced without any sibilance, harshness or too much emphasis on one frequency range. They throw a big, deep, wide soundstage that is filled with detail and density. The sound envelopes you and when the last track has ended they leave you wanting for more.
