Just wanted to share that this combination has great synergy! I bought a used Ayon CD 35 II, which is a CD player + DAC + tube preamp and that thing sounds fantastic in my system. I think part of the magic is that it has a high setting for output which doubles the voltage to 4V max on RCA out.
Besides the CD player I use a $150 PC with Qobuz and a Rega RP6 as inputs.
Output goes into ZRock II and then UFO25 to Tannoy Cheviot speakers in mid-field listening position.
The Ayron has a very wide soundstage, very fulll sounding and instruments are clean and easy to separate. As comparision I used a T+A DAC8DSD, which I also really like, but it is not playing on this level.
Even when using with the analog in and the record player it retains that wide, spacious and clear sound.
