KIT ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 43
NOTES: Going back to the the input stage again, it's time to install the 47K plate resistors on pins 1 and 6. Also take two 15K resistors and twist one end together. Then solder the joined end to the center lug of the ceramic tube socket. At the node where the 15K and 47K resistors meet, you will tie the free lead of each poly cap to its respective side. The center lug where you tied the two 15K resistors will be connected to the last filter section of the blue multi-section power supply caps through a piece of hookup wire around 6 inches long. If you haven't by now, you should be studying the schematic as you go. Also while we're here, install the green .1 uf coupling caps between pin 1 and the terminal strip you installed, and again from pin 6 to the other side of the terminal strip. Pins 1 and 6 should each have both the 47K plate resistor and the coupling cap soldered to them. The large silver wire with the white heat shrink, is the litz wire we like to use for our ground buss. It goes from the the bias switch to the center lug of the terminal strip, and on through to the blue filter caps, and on through to the input jacks, and on through to the input potentiometer. |
SE84C and SE84CS use 10K in place of the 15K. This gives a larger voltage swing and results in slightly more gain and dynamics.
