Here is a detail of the ground wire as it terminates into the ground lugs on the input jacks and then finally the ground lugs of the dual 100K input level control. The same litz wire is used to connect the signal of each input jack to the level control.

Many people don't realize that the ground is a fundamental part of the signal path, and everything goes through it. On this note, using a steel chassis as a ground wire so that the current passes through it is not as esoteric as keeping the entire ground in a high end litz wire of the proper gauge.
